Will be the same as it was before in Raw Therapee. After generating the 3DLUT, Displa圜AL will have spat out some extra files in the output folder like a PNG file, an ICC profile and a log file. For Resolve, set the output format to 'IRIDAS (.cube)'. IF the monitor gamut was the same as sRGB, what you see in the sRGB JPG 'Apply calibration (vcgt)' should be greyed out, because your display profile does not contain any calibration data. If you export the file to sRGB, the file will have the gamut of sRGB. So if I view a photo, the photo will be displayed on my monitor to the widest color gamut the monitor can display and to my calibration settings, correct? If I then export the file as JPEG and set the colorspace to sRGB, how will that image look compared to what I see on the monitor? Will it narrow down the colorspace to sRGB in an approximation of what I see on the monitor? If I open a program, say Raw Therapee I'll have to first specify using the included calibrated profile. One last question (but it's more on colorspace than anything else). Serves you right, you flash get.I'll have to figure out why Displa圜al doesn't allow me to create a 3DLut but that's a separate issue. Got a wide gamut display? This is all probably going to be a massive pain in the arris.Though don't bother putting the location of the ICM file in gfx.color_management.display_profile 'cos if you leave it blank it'll automatically use whatever profile you've got set in your display settings. While you're in there, set gfx.color_management.enablev4 in order to take advantage of additional information in Displa圜AL's ICM profiles.Firefox needs you to go into about:config and set gfx.color_management.mode to 1, otherwise it'll only apply your colour correction profile to tagged images which will leave you spending half an hour trying to work out why the heck the pictures look different in the browser than in your image editor like an idiot YES I'M TALKING ABOUT MYSELF.Also, use Displa圜AL's handy-dandy interactive adjustment screen to match the brightnesses between your displays for best results (paying attention to the numerical figure, not the "hit the bar in the middle" arrows.) If your colorimeter has a way to measure ambient lighting, use it.Is your job not video production? Leave it alone, only madness awaits you there. Is your job video production? Congratulations, you're going to need to piss-arse about with the 3D LUTs.I can't tell if it is just the content I am viewing on it or perhaps I need a 10-bit card, or perhaps its a hardware defect A friend of mine recommended renting an x-rite idisplay pro colorimeter with the internal LG software. Don't set the curve to "As Measured" unless you want the colour correction to only apply to images in colour-managed applications you need a 1D LUT to correct non-managed stuff, like the desktop environment, and that only gets generated if you pick a curve. The in-factory calibration seems to have a lot of magenta saturation. Don't try to get smart, it's the default for a reason. Does your monitor not have a special sRGB mode that actually works? Then set the gamma curve in Displa圜AL to 2.2.Does your monitor have a special sRGB mode that actually works, unlike mine which is massively too warm? Then set the gamma curve in Displa圜AL to sRGB.Don't buy old colorimeters, they don't work.Things I has learnded throughout this process: Pretty good match to the gamma curve, though it loses it at 85-90 percent:Īnd the RGB gray balance is fine down to about 15 percent, after which it goes all skwiffy - thanks, I'm guessing, to the TN panel.Ĭonsidering each calibration takes about 20 minutes (which is a lot faster than a Spyder - apparently they take about an hour to do the same thing!) I should probably leave it there. It has, however, brought the maximum delta-E even further down:Īnd pushed those colours at the bottom of the gamut chart a bit closer to their targets (though they're still not quite there yet, and probably never will be on this monitor.) Playing some more (YES I HAVE DEADLINES TO HIT SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UUUUUUUUUUP!)įound an option to compensate for ambient lighting and actual environmental colour temperature as measured by the colorimeter (which, it reckons, is around 6,000K rather than 6,500K - guess my 'daylight' bulbs aren't quite up to snuff), and realised I'm probably using the gamma curve setting wrong (setting it to sRGB because that's what I want, instead of setting it to 2.2 'cos that's what the monitor reckons it's set at.)Įyeballing it, the result is that some of the colours that were washed-out on the original colour profile are a bit deeper now, though still paler than turning colour management off altogether. Even still, it's 100% understandable that you would no longer want to do business with Chase going forward. Unfortunately, it seems like another case where the initial investigator screwed up and the later investigators started out with a strong bias toward reaffirming the initial conclusion.Īs you correctly noted, this kind of awful customer service is definitely unusual from Chase. Very sorry to hear Chase is still sticking with their initial take. I don't know why CHASE has done this to you all I know is they do some strange stupid stuff and once locked in won't back down. They got the fraud department on the phone and the twatwaffle even restated it was "their money and I was allowed to use it" again. The local banking officers begged me not to and apologized. **bleep**? I hung up and after scraping my face off the carpet jumped in the car to my local branch and closed 2 credit cards, checking, savings and a 401k. What pushed me to terminate my banking relationship with them was when the guy on the phone in the fraud department had the audacity to tell me that the money I had on deposit with them was THEIR money and they allowed me to use it. I didn't know about a police report or FACTA and had to swallow it. I had no relationship and had never requested any transaction but that wasn't enough for CHASE. Over a month later the transaction was processed again and CHASE had the same claim that I had done business with the woman. I disputed it and they initially credited it back. About a decade ago I had a significant sum deposited there and a debit card fraudulent transaction. I can't speak to how to resolve this but I can attest to CHASE making some crazy bone headed decisions that lead a customer to immediately terminate their relationship with the bank. On the rest, I can't deny that the circumstances are confusing. I still think Chase is a good company overall, but my own relationship with Chase was no longer good once they started accusing me of lying (and presumably also flagged me as a problem customer). It was activated in mid-May and then used in early June, meaning something happened to it during the time between those dates.Ģ) I closed the accounts because I wanted to close them after thinking it through, not as a knee-jerk reaction. Under this formula, you can calculate simple interest taken over different frequencies, like daily or monthly. Simple Interest for Different Frequencies For instance, if you wanted to calculate interest over six months, your "t" value would equal 0.5. Under this formula, you can manipulate "t" to calculate interest according to the actual period. P = Principal amount or the original balance. You may also see the simple interest formula written as: Our calculator will compute any of these variables given the other inputs. Simple Interest = Principal Amount × Interest Rate × Time The basic simple interest formula looks like this: In other words, future interest payments won't be affected by previously accrued interest. No matter how often simple interest is calculated, it only applies to this original principal amount. Generally, simple interest is set as a fixed percentage for the duration of a loan. Simple interest is interest that is only calculated on the initial sum (the "principal") borrowed or deposited. You might pay interest on an auto loan or credit card, or receive interest on cash deposits in interest-bearing accounts, like savings accounts or certificates of deposit (CDs). Interest is the cost you pay to borrow money or the compensation you receive for lending money. Yet the environmental message is more eloquent and effective because the real focus of the film is how Finch, realizing he has little time left as he constantly coughs up blood, has to “raise” Jeff. It is rather chilling when Finch shows Jeff why he and Goodyear need protection, extending his hand into the sunlight and instantly blistering. War hasn’t ruined the world in “Finch,” but the loss of our ozone layer. Like much recent sci-fi, the screenplay by Craig Luck and Ivor Powell is most definitely a commentary on the urgent theme of ecological catastrophe. Before this kind of film could have been seen as mere speculation, now in a pandemic world where people have fought over toilet paper, it’s not so implausible. What Sapochnik does differently is never show us the other survivors, only hints of them when Jeff stupidly wanders through an abandoned mall laden with traps, or when a mysterious car starts trailing the RV at night. Like the terrible future of “The Road,” bumping into fellow humans means coming across savage scavengers. Finch doesn’t just avoid cities because he’s an introvert. It’s essential they all be likeable because Sapochnik convincingly stages an arid future where traces of life can be menacing. The only characters in this film are Finch, Goodyear and Jeff, plus a cute rover who adds to the mechanical moments of comic relief. “Finch” is directed by Miguel Sapochnik, a veteran of TV who has worked on notable shows like “Game of Thrones” and miniseries like “Under the Dome.” It should be noted one of the producers is director Robert Zemeckis, who filmed Hanks in two of his most famous heart-tugs, “Forrest Gump” and “Cast Away.” This movie has the goofball charm of the former and wrenching battles against the odds of the latter. Along the way Finch tries to instruct the robot, who names himself “Jeff,” in the ways of the world, because his purpose is to eventually watch over Goodyear, since Finch himself is terminally ill. Finch decides the best option for a new home is San Francisco, so they pack up into a battered, solar-powered RV and hit the road. It seems to work but before the data download can complete, Finch, the new robot and Finch’s beloved pet dog Goodyear, have to flee when a massive storm that will last 40 days makes its way towards their base. He soon switches on his invention, a clunky yet agile robot with an orange, tube-like head. He spends his days building a droid and feeding data into its system from a vast, surviving library. Louis, happy to keep away from any human contact. Finch (Hanks) is a former engineer living in a barren St. A solar flare has rendered Earth a danger zone where constant UV radiation from above forces humans to live sheltered, only coming out at night. Yet this movie is so well-imagined the robot nearly upstages the Oscar winner.Īs with many dystopian tales, “Finch” takes place at some point in the near future. The fact that he pulls it off so well with a robot further proves this. When he’s dead serious Hanks embodies our ideal of fatherhood on screen. He is the guy you would want to guide you through the apocalypse. Few actors have captured these moods simultaneously like Tom Hanks. Originally slated as a Universal release delayed by the pandemic, it’s one of the best original acquisitions Apple TV has released since the streamer’s debut, full of worry and heart. “ Finch” references these fears with a dystopian fantasy that works as a wonderful allegory about growing up. It seems to be the end of the world, more than ever these days, in Movies and TV, and no other genre channels our modern anxieties like science fiction We await the final cataclysm caused by climate change the way previous generations feared nuclear war and even the threat of that menace hasn’t completely gone away, either. ‘Finch’: Tom Hanks, a Loyal Dog and Lovable Robot Ride Through a Dystopian Future Discovering the Island of Cuba: Havana and Beyond.Aspen: America’s Most Luxurious Mountain Town.Florence, Italy: What to Do and Where to Stay in the Heart of Tuscany.
